Welcome to Maltby - and welcome to our website

Now in its 27th year, our group still attracts enough
members to warrant weekly meetings. We believe that our friendly and informal
approach to this hobby is the reason, and we try to make sure that everyone –
young and old, expert or beginner - is welcome. “For the fun of it” has been
adopted as a sort of motto for us, because that’s what we firmly believe any
hobby is all about.
We have a reasonably well furbished shack for HF/VHF/UHF as well as the equipment needed to put on Special Event or contest stations, or to operate /P just “for the fun of it”, all of which have successfully done in recent months.
We do have a serious side when necessary, and can offer training and exam facilities for anyone wishing to start out in the hobby or to progress further. We try to run the courses so that we fit in with the dates that the candidates are available, rather than have them fit in with us. On top of that, the varying expertise of our members is always on hand to help solve that little problem that’s been niggling at you for ages or to help you with a new aspect of amateur radio that you may wish to try.
So, if you enjoy “playing radio”, or think you might, and are close enough to visit us, drop in one Wednesday evening. You’ll be made very welcome. Failing that, you might catch us on air (G4SKM), or you can get in touch with us via this website.

Our Site
Our website is primarily used an on-line members' newsletter, and it will still have that function, but we're hoping to expand with a bit more about our hobby itself. Over the next few weeks, we'll be adding some new pages, and we've started with one for RSGB information.
In the meantime, have a look round at what is there now, and keep calling back to see what's new.
